Sometimes it snows in April

Spring conditions in Minnesota signal the dormant northern motorcyclist to awake from its slumber. Tools are dusted off signaling the arrival of the spring maintenance season. This busy state of tinkering is brought on by wet heavy snow and high sustained winds followed by a warm sunshine that betrays these winter like conditions. Surely, it's an exciting time in the life of the northern motorcyclist.

April 14th- 15th
30 degrees
high sustained winds
12 - 16 inches of snow

A highly scientific measurement.

What's the point?

  1. You need to head further north! Here in AK, the snow is melting and even the two wheeled bikes have been out on the road for a couple of weeks...

    1. Saturday is the day, 50s and sunny! Last year I was riding in February, so we've seen some extremes lately. The trick is to not let the weather win... if I only had 2WD. The Saint Paul PD rides all year, they throw an outrigger on.

  2. Snow in April is just so wrong on so many levels.

    1. Yes. But it's melting fast! Last weekend we threw a blizzard party with the neighbors. It sure helped with the white out conditions. I think this weekend we'll have a spring party and let the kids jump in as many mud puddles as they want. And at least one of the bikes is coming out to play! happy days.
