Maine again

I've been neglecting my blog again.

Mrs. North and I made our annual pilgrimage to Maine in August. Almost four weeks ago now.

A handful of photos, taken on my phone, turned out like paintings. It must have been a combination of the heat and the water, and the way the phone compressed and resampled the images. Or maybe Maine just looks like a painting.

One of these days I'll get back to documenting all the mischief I've been up to. Sooner than later, summer is slipping away.

Lighthouses of Maine

Photo essay part 3: The lighthouses of Maine

I should probably just call this Pemiquid point and two other lighthouses we found in Portland.

Maine is truly the land of "that one little out-of-the-way, hole-in-the-wall, detour that led to something great." If you ever go, try not to plan too much. One maybe two concrete plans a day is a good pace.

The shacks of Maine

Photo "essay" part 2: the shacks of Maine

The tumble-down shacks of Maine are an attraction in their own right. (and probably out of my price range) The locals are wondering why this nut is taking pictures of their homes. It's a little creepy but the everyday architecture of a place is a constant reminder that you are away.
